In Belgium, one child in five lives in poverty, which is more than half a million children. The Pelicano Foundation solves this child poverty in our country. They help children living in abject poverty until they find their place in the world of work. Financial support is channelled through care partners, mainly schools and PCSWs. They ensure that all financial support goes directly to the welfare of the Pelicano child and not to the parents or a guardian. The care partners offer concrete help: a daily warm meal, decent winter clothing, a visit to the dentist, club membership fees, school fees, or costs for a school trip. With this sustainable approach, they break the vicious circle of poverty and create real opportunities for the future.
